Product Description

Plexus® MA590 is a two-part methacrylate adhesive designed for structural bonding of thermoplastics, metals, and composite assemblies. It has a 1:1 mix ratio, a working time of 90 to 105 minutes, and achieves 500 psi in 5 hours and 1000 psi in 6.5 hours at 74°F (23°C).

This adhesive is designed for large marine structures where an extended open time is required. It is widely used in boat manufacturing, specifically for bonding stringers and liners into large fiberglass boats with bond lines up to 1.50 inches (38 mm) thick.

MA590 is gray when mixed and is supplied in ready-to-use cartridges, pails, or drums. It dispenses as a non-sagging gel.

Key Features

  • Very Long Open Time: Provides 90-105 minutes of work life, making it ideal for large assemblies.
  • High Strength & Toughness: Offers excellent fatigue endurance and impact resistance.
  • Wide Material Compatibility: Bonds metals, composites, and thermoplastics.
  • Minimal Surface Preparation: Requires little to no sanding or priming.
  • Highly Thixotropic: Non-sagging formula for vertical and overhead applications.

Recommended Applications

  • Marine Industry: Structural bonding for fiberglass and composite boat components.
  • Transportation: Bonding composite and metal components in automotive, marine, and aerospace.
  • Construction: Structural bonding of composite and thermoplastic panels.
  • Industrial Equipment: Bonding metals and plastics in general manufacturing.
