Product Description

3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive EC-3984 is a liquid, sprayable modified epoxy adhesive formulated for high-strength aerospace bonding applications. It is a modified version of 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Film AF 3109-2, offering enhanced high-temperature performance compared to conventional 250°F (121°C) curing adhesives. This adhesive is primarily used for bonding wire mesh on engine nacelles, thrust reversers, and acoustic panels for aircraft and aircraft engines. It delivers excellent adhesion in metal-to-metal and honeycomb sandwich structures, providing superior strength from -67°F (-55°C) to 300°F (149°C).

Key Features

  • Wide Cure Temperature Range: Cures between 225°F (107°C) to 350°F (177°C).
  • Excellent Strength Retention: Provides high-strength bonds from -67°F (-55°C) to 300°F (149°C).
  • Sprayable Application: Easily applied by spraying without blocking perforations in acoustic components.
  • Low Volatile Emissions: Allows low-pressure bonding without excess by-products.
  • Compatible with Most Epoxy-Graphite Composites: Ideal for aerospace and aircraft structural bonding.

Recommended Applications

  • Bonding wire mesh on engine nacelles, thrust reversers, and acoustic panels.
  • Metal-to-metal and honeycomb sandwich bonding in aerospace applications.
  • Applications requiring high-temperature performance and sprayable application.
