RTV560 is a two-part, high-temperature silicone elastomer manufactured by Momentive Performance Materials. It is designed for extreme temperature applications, offering excellent mechanical, thermal, and electrical insulation properties. This compound consists of a base material and requires a curing agent (typically Dibutyl Tin Dilaurate – DBT) to initiate cross-linking and form a durable elastomer.

Key Features & Benefits

✔ Wide Temperature Resistance: Operates continuously from -115°C (-175°F) to 260°C (500°F) and withstands short-term exposure up to 316°C (600°F).
✔ Adjustable Cure Time: Work time and cure speed can be modified by varying the type and concentration of the curing agent.
✔ Room Temperature Cure: No additional heat is required for curing, making it suitable for various industrial applications.
✔ Solvent-Free Composition: Ensures a clean working environment with no solvent odor.
✔ Excellent Adhesion Properties: Bonds effectively to non-silicone surfaces when used with a primer (e.g., SS4004 silicone primer).
✔ Superior Release Properties: Ideal for mold-making and casting applications.
✔ Low Shrinkage: Retains dimensional stability after curing.
✔ Excellent Electrical Properties: High dielectric strength and volume resistivity, making it ideal for electrical insulation.
✔ Good Mechanical Strength: Higher tensile strength, hardness, and tear resistance compared to other RTV silicone elastomers.

Typical Uses & Applications

RTV560 is widely used in aerospace, electronics, and industrial applications, including:
🔹 Cast-in-place heat shielding – Protects components from extreme temperatures.
🔹 Thermal insulation – Provides insulation for high-heat environments.
🔹 Encapsulation & Potting of Electrical Assemblies – Ensures protection against thermal and electrical stresses.
🔹 Bonding & Sealing in Harsh Environments – Adheres well to various substrates when used with a primer.
