Dow has introduced DOWSIL™ CC-2588 Conformal Coating, a tough, abrasion-resistant silicone-based coating designed to protect PCBs and electronic components from humidity, corrosion, and harsh environments. It offers low VOC emissions, cures at room temperature, and supports efficient manufacturing through spray application and automated UV inspection.
Unlike traditional silicones, DOWSIL™ CC-2588 provides high mechanical strength (76 Shore A), reducing abrasion and delamination while maintaining strong adhesion. It meets UL 94 V-0 flammability and IPC-CC-830B insulation resistance standards. The coating forms a uniform film (50-200 microns) with minimal bubbles and can be adjusted in viscosity using DOWSIL™ OS-20 Silicone Fluid.
