Dow introduced DOWSIL™ CC-8030 UV and Moisture Dual Cure Conformal Coating at IPC APEX EXPO 2020, the first solventless silicone conformal coating with a dual UV and moisture cure system. This innovation enhances sustainability, health, safety, and processing efficiency, reducing costs through automated spraying and fast UV curing. Unlike other silicones, it has low enough viscosity for spray coating and a secondary moisture cure for shadowed areas.
The BTEX-free formulation protects PCBs, sensitive electronics, and fine-pitch designs from contaminants while offering low modulus, high elongation, and reliable stress protection. Compared to acrylated urethane coatings, it provides better thermal cycling resistance.
Designed for high-throughput spray coating, it cures tack-free in under 10 seconds using a 300 mW/cm² UV lamp, while the moisture cure ensures complete coverage and supports thicker layers without added stress. The product is available globally.
